Life v.2

We went to Bangor on Wednesday, me and my three youngest. I wish we had a Target much, much closer:) I bought some more tomato plants and we will plant them with the rest as soon as it stops raining. We also got some more green pepper plants. I think we use green pepper in almost everything, along with onions. I would love to learn how to grow my own herbs someday too.

Lets see a few more days of school left, my kidlets get one week off and then we start summer school, which I am looking forward to this year, I feel like I am more prepared.

We are waiting for Joff to finish school (one more year!) to build our house and something I love to do is research house plans and draw house plans. A few things that Joff and I have decided are must haves after years of talking about it: A central chimney for a wood-stove, an open floor plan and a bathroom as close to the back door as possible! Amazingly enough the square footage of my house has actually shrunk, I used to think bigger was better and with eight of us I was sure 4000 square feet would just barely be enough, now I am convinced something in the 1600-1800 range is much better, the problem I have found with most house’s and all modular/trailers is the lack of a design that utilizes as many square feet as possible, so I am determined to have it laid out just right.

This morning I was lazy and and   puttered around the house, doling out snacks and kisses to the wee ones in between washing the table and surfing the internet and doing laundry, now my floors need to be swept and I will get around to it before the end of the day, but right now I am  chatting with Elli who has picked up Alice’s favorite thing to say…..”Oh my word” .

“If you don’t know [your family’s] history, then you don’t know anything. You are a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree”            Michael Crichton

“Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.”

“Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.” Napoleon Hill

That last one applies to most everything, I need to have it printed and hung somewhere.

Life

Its funny the way people change, mostly  I think it is subtle, over a period of time and you barely notice. But occasionally you see it different. In myself, I woke up the other day and had completely different views on things then I did when I went to bed!  A certain amount of reflection, prayer and sleeping on it I am sure accounted for the change, but it was most definitely a change. Would you believe that I am now seriously considering homeschooling! There are other things and I am enjoying having certain things decided upon, I can’t stand indecision:)

Annie Dillard said “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”

So obvouis and yet not really thought about (by me anyway)

What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other? George Eliot

I am so very, very bad at this, I am as most humans are, very selfish. I can do better.

I have a very bad habit of whining about my need for security, but I believe Helen Keller when she says:

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

In truth I enjoy my adventure, in truth I wouldn’t trade my life for anyone else’s. The downs make it interesting, they provide a challenge and the ups offer solace and true appreciation for all things.

“If my doctor told me I had only six minutes to live, I wouldn’t brood. I’d type a little faster.” Isaac Asimov

Trusting God completely means having faith that He knows what is best for your life. You expect Him to keep his promises, help you with your problems, and do the impossible  when necessary. The Purpose Driven Life

Perhaps more then anything else  in life, I need to be more faithful.

Shalom

You’ve got to ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do ya, punk?

Sometimes I can be a total brat.

A snob.

Absolutely impossible to be around.

And I am soooo not apologizing for it either.

Back to, well, whatever. I slept in this morning, you would not believe it but I woke up around 8:30, its dead quite in my house. Joff has taken the kids to his moms house for breakfast and here I am laying in bed, playing around on the computer. LOVE it! My cat Buddy is stretched out beside me and sure its Saturday gotta get stuff done, but this is nice and Joff is getting a blueberry cheesecake for lunch:)

So Elli finds a butter knife in the van and says ” Oh my goodness! A knife!”  😀

I am so darn fickle.

I confess to missing blogger, there, are you happy? I love wordpress, but I love blogger and I am so sad.

Okay now lets see, I talked to brother yesterday, I haven’t heard from him in a bit and so that makes me happy, he told me the name they have chosen and lets see if I can get this right. Lilyan Anastasia Rain, leaving off the last name of course.

It was so very sweet, Joff and EVs are making me a flower garden, they got half of it done yesterday and Evs went and picked a bunch of flowers and wrote a “to mommy note” and planted them all in the garden, even the note🙂

I was snuggling my little Elli and I told her (for the millionth time) that she is my “Princess Elli Elephant my Shining Light Pumpkin Spice Snufflufugus Jilly-Boo Aku” she was quiet for a few minutes and then looked at me and said ” Mommy are you serious about that?”

I LOVE two year old’s:)

hey, what the….say what?

And that Ladies and Gentlemen, sums it all up, turns out the hokey-pokey is what its all about and 25 is the new 68.

Vague much?

Just pass the freaking prescription already.

I wrote the awesomest (I don’t really care if that is a word or not) blog post last night, it was killer, it summed up my whole pathetic existence. Problem. I have kids. And cats. And there favorite buttons are backspace and delete, they (the kids and the cats) can even highlight and delete and then find there way to change password and THAT sums up my life if nothing else does.

Hello, Hello, Hello

How do you teach someone to blow bubblegum?

It is very satisfying to pop bubbles very loudly when waiting in a very long line and the lady in front is writing a check and forgot her ID.

Katie wants to learn how to blow bubbles with bubble yum.

Ha! Back to house cleaning and popping gum:)

ya so what.

I’ve hit bottom a couple of times in the last week or so,  interesting note for those of you who haven’t gotten there yet, they have those fun house bouncers down there, frankly I was expecting snarling alligators, but hitting bottom and then going back up and hitting again, well I think it more then makes up for something green and mean.

I am beginning to suspect my karma is bi-polar.

Oh yes a very Happy Mothers day to all the woman out there, after all we are all mothers whether we mother a kid (or two) a husband, a cat or a dog or even a dying aloe vera plant. I hope you had a great day:)
